About Andrew Hodson

I am the youngest with in a golfing family which has spanned three generations. My grandfather started the tradition in England (Bert Hodson-1931 Ryder Cup Team) and has since passed on his knowledge and love of the game. Although I did not follow in the steps of my father and grandfather on a professional golfing level, my love of the game and commitment to accurately fit equipment has only grown. Even as a kid I enjoyed re-gripping clubs which eventually led to refinishing wood heads, re-shafting, and now has culminated in more detailed custom club fitting, building, and repair.

New 2013 Callaway X-Forged Irons have received rave reviews from the editors at Golfwrx

The new Callaway X Forged Irons have posted some impressive  results and we have found them to be especially popular with the accomplished mid to low handicapers who enjoy the buttery feel of forgings and the clean look of traditional blades. These irons have an increadible buttery smooth feel while still having that clean look at address. This clean look at address hides what’s really under the hood in regards to the great perimeter weighting and almost a cavity muscle back design which provides a high level of forgiveness not normally found in traditional blade design. The engineers at Callaway (primarily Roger Cleveland) also widened the sole to give the irons a bit higher bounce which significantly reduces turf drag which is especially beneficial when you tend to go down a little steep when you need to go down after it. callaway xforgededitors choice

Killer looks and soft buttery feel. We were suprised that a cavity back as large as the X Forged could produce such a great feel. Also the sole design has more bounce than many modern forged irons today. Roger Cleveland and the Callaway designers like to add a lot of bounce to their irons and wedges. Performance is also very good. Long irons were high and the shorter irons were flatter. new

New Putter Lineup for 2013 – Introducing Odyssey to our custom fitting line

odyssey3 odysseyputters odysseyputters1Odyssey really cleaned up in the recent 2013 Golf Digest Hot List in all putter categories. Of all the putter fittings that I have done over the years, I have learned that proper alignment is probably the most crucial factor in custom putter fitting. Think about buying one of the most expensive hunting rifles made. Even though it’s craftsmanship and quality are unequalled, if the sights are not calibrated properly to the individual user then that expensive rifle is just making noise.   The two things I like best about the new Odyssey line is the unique contrasts in the versa line which really enhances visibility and alignment (although they have been called zebra’s they really do work!) and finally a putter line which offers more center-shafted head styles. For anyone having putter issues (and who hasn’t) I would encourage you to schedule a custom putter fitting which I guarantee will lower your putting stroke average. Keep in mind that a proper putter fitting doesn’t necessarily mean you need to buy a new putter. In many cases I am able to properly adjust a customers existing putter to their individual putting stroke!
