About Andrew Hodson

I am the youngest with in a golfing family which has spanned three generations. My grandfather started the tradition in England (Bert Hodson-1931 Ryder Cup Team) and has since passed on his knowledge and love of the game. Although I did not follow in the steps of my father and grandfather on a professional golfing level, my love of the game and commitment to accurately fit equipment has only grown. Even as a kid I enjoyed re-gripping clubs which eventually led to refinishing wood heads, re-shafting, and now has culminated in more detailed custom club fitting, building, and repair.

Reminder – Titleist TS Demo & Fitting Event next Wednesday 9/5 4-7:00 at Independence GC

We are excited to showcase the exciting new TS line of Driver and fairway metals next week at Independence. This event will be available to the public and we do have a few private fitting appointments left (please contact Hodson Golf directly if you would like to reserve a spot).

We have been saying here at Hodson Golf  for years that the “holy grail” of driver shafts would be the highest launching, lowest spinning, shaft with the most tip stability. We began to see this game changing transition with the notable Tour AD DI (“Deep Impact”-the Orange shaft) and then improved with the Tour AD IZ (Into the Zone) that came out last year.

Well move over everybody here comes the VR (Vanquish All Rivals)

The Tour AD VR wood shaft will be available in the standard weights of 45, 55, 65, 75 and 85 grams.  The Tour AD VR shaft profile is firm to stiff starting at the handle, medium/firm in the center section and has a firm tip to promote a mid/high launch angle and low ball spin rates.  The Tour ADVR also utilizes TORAYCA ® T1100G carbon-fiber pre-preg with NANOALLOY ® technology in the tip section of the shaft for additional shaft stability, exceptional feel and precise ball control.  Note attached Tour AD VR spec. sheet and Bend Profiles Comparison chart for the complete details on this new shaft offering.

New Ping Prodi G lineup for aspiring junior golfers – Best Junior Equipment and Program out there – so “Get Growing”

We fit a large number of junior golfers every year and are constantly frustrated by the lack of good quality equipment for this next generation of aspiring golfers. Sure there are some well known Junior equipment brands out there, but who wants to overpay for inefficient clubs with a USA branded theme that are all made on the cheap in China? Also who wants to spend an arm and a leg on the clubs knowing full well that you are going to have to do the same thing in another year or two when they outgrow the clubs. Well parents its time to “Get Growing!”

I’ve added some information about Ping’s new junior Prodi G club line below but plain and simple Ping (consistently ranked as producing some of the best engineered clubs on the market since their inception) has put their engineering prowess and industry leading quality control towards an exciting new line of exceptional junior equipment that can be custom fit by Hodson Golf. With this program, when your child has outgrown the set,  you can bring the clubs back to Hodson Golf and we can return them to Ping to be completely re-built to your child’s current specs (initial and follow up fittings provided by Hodson Golf with no -charge on the follow up fitting as always!). Now that your kids have finished their golf summer camps and are enthusiastic about working on their game, take this opportunity to help them succeed with properly fit, quality equipment.

Prodi G junior sets offer the same score-lowering technology of our adult sets custom-engineered to fit golfers ages 7 to 13 and between 4′ 5″ and 5′ 2″. With the “Get Golf Growing” Program, buy at least five clubs and you’re entitled to a one-time, no-charge service to have the clubs re-shafted or lengthened, re-weighted, and re-gripped as the golfer grows.

Juniors can add 15 yards off the tee over the top-selling junior driver with this more forgiving, more aerodynamic 460cc titanium driver. It offers speed-inducing crown turbulators, forgiveness from dragonfly technology, and a lightweight graphite shaft to help generate power. Two flexes (available in all clubs) in this lightweight graphite shaft are optimized for weight and balance to match junior swing speeds.

17-4 stainless steel heads (6-PW) are perimeter-weighted for forgiveness and an elastomer insert ensures soft impact. Optimized loft configurations help launch the ball high, far and straight.

The 22° fairway wood has a thin, machined 17-4 stainless steel face and is easy to square for increased speed and distance from the fairway or the tee.

A machined 17-4 stainless steel face gives the 27° hybrid speed and distance, and optimized loft and CG placement produces consistently high and straight results.

Styled after the Glide 2.0 wedges to optimize spin and control around the greens, the lightweight 17-4 stainless steel 52° and 56° have an elastomer insert for a soft feel.

Inspired by the Voss model, this 320-gram, highly forgiving putter has a ball-width cavity to help with focus and additional alignment aids to assist with aiming.

The 30-inch-tall lightweight carry bag weighs only 3 lbs. and is designed to fit golfers approximately 4’5″ to 4’9″. It has four pockets, easy-adjusting padded shoulder straps, and a four-way top.
