Professional Private Fitting vs Demo Day – What’s the deal?

To avoid any confusion we would just like to clarify a few things to those interested or curious as to what the overall process is for a private personal fitting. You can find answers to most of your questions here on our site but again just to clarify – A fitting is NOT like a demo day!

Prior to your fitting we will provide you with a questionnaire, and during the fitting we will guide you through the optimum equipment choices to enhance your overall game. The questionnaire will also allow us to focus on certain brands/models that you may be specifically interested in. For full bag fittings we rarely end up with all clubs from a certain manufacturer. We are going to fit you in the best equipment regardless of brand to achieve the best performing equipment for your specific game.

Unlike a demo day where people line up to basically hit free balls with each manufacturers stock clubs (that you can find lining the shelves at any big box) we custom fit for your specific needs and generally end up with certain shaft/head combinations that are simply not available with typical OEM stock clubs.

About Andrew Hodson

I am the youngest with in a golfing family which has spanned three generations. My grandfather started the tradition in England (Bert Hodson-1931 Ryder Cup Team) and has since passed on his knowledge and love of the game. Although I did not follow in the steps of my father and grandfather on a professional golfing level, my love of the game and commitment to accurately fit equipment has only grown. Even as a kid I enjoyed re-gripping clubs which eventually led to refinishing wood heads, re-shafting, and now has culminated in more detailed custom club fitting, building, and repair.

Timing is everything – We would advise you to book your fitting now!

We have steadily been knocking out the fittings every week but requests continue to pile up (we now have over 50 people on our weekly availability email that we send out every Monday). One of the first questions that everyone asks after the fitting runs along the lines of “I’m leaving on my yearly golf trip in two weeks will the clubs be ready”. The further we get into March (and definitely April) expect build/delivery times to only get pushed back further and further. An example would be the new (and in high demand) Callaway Apex Smoke mix set. Those are now expecting an early May delivery!

On top of that, we were booked out nearly 5 weeks towards the end of March last year and the way things are currently progressing, I would anticipate that to be even worse this year.

Great unbiased article from Golfwrx regarding the Aerotech Steelfiber iron shafts

As one of the original dealers for Aerotech, I can honestly say they have been my go to premium graphite iron shafts since they were introduced. These shafts are a must for anyone looking to transition out of steel but not quite ready for most of the unstable lightweight graphite shaft products currently out there. Don’t take my word for it though, just check out there website to see how many tour players (on all tours) are using them (non-contractually I might add). Here is a great article recently from GolfWrx. Aerotech has also released a couple of new iron shafts for the golfer looking for that higher launch/lower spin with added stability which is tough (if not impossible) to find in most high launch graphite iron shafts

AOL EMAIL FITTING INQUIRIES – IMPORTANT

Unfortunately our web server (along with most business servers) treats emails from AOL address as spam and/or junk which are automatically moved to our trash bin (so basically we don’t get your email inquiries). If you still have an AOL address and would like to schedule a fitting please use another email address, or you can use your rotary phone to call us directly at 804-475-6311, and our manager Michelle will be happy to set up your fitting.

Epic Flash – Forward!

The new Epic Flash is killing it so we encourage all of our loyal customers to Flash Forward for the spring. Our own launch monitor data supports what is going on now on all tours – Higher ball speed, tighter dispersion, more distance.

From Callaway Tour Staff:

PGA Tour: We were the #1 Driver at the Genesis Open. Our Tour Reps have told us that players are impressed by the ball speed gains and tighter dispersion that they’re seeing in testing and inside the ropes. Callaway already have more wins on the PGA Tour than any other brand so far in 2019.

LPGA Tour: Callaway had 62 total drivers in play (over 43.% of the field) – and over 85% of those drivers were played by non-staffers who use Callaway based solely on performance. We’ve continued to be the #1 driver brand by a wide margin on the LPGA, and 2019 looks like it’s going to be even stronger.

European Tour: We already have more European Tour wins than any other brand so far this year. We also had 38 Epic Flash models in play at last week’s event.

Champions Tour: Callaway was once again the #1 Driver Brand last week.

The new Epic Flash Drivers are led by Flash Face, which we designed using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning to deliver significant ball speed gains for all golfers, including the best players in the game.

*Based on total number of uses across the PGA, European, Champions and LPGA Tours in 2019 according to the Darrel Survey.
