2025 – New! We are seeing modest but manageable price increases for 2025 from most vendors. The biggest differences this year will be in the stock shaft and/or grip offerings vs premium and/or upcharge components. In an effort to keep/increase margins most golf OEM’s (Original Equipment Manufacturers) will be offering lower cost/value lightweight steel shafts. Make no mistake an 80 or 90 gram steel shaft simply costs lest to produce than a more stable 105-120 gram shaft. Lightweight steel shafts simply have a much thinner steel wall construction and typically produce more dispersion, spin, and inconsistencies – especially with faster swing speed. I’ve honestly never seen a wider range of price upcharges for the same shafts and grips across all vendors. Some shafts are no-upcharge with one OEM but could be a $20-$30 upcharge or more with another. Certain well known cord grips could also be a stock offering from some vendors (like Mizuno or Srixon) but as much as $15 upcharge per grip with others. As a premium dealer for most component manufacturers, Hodson Golf has the ability to buy shafts/grips/heads directly from the producers which will allow us to pass on additional savings to our customers. Considering all these changing factors and looming tarrifs, Hodson Golf has partnered with a third party vendor this year to provide competitive pricing for our customers to give you the best value. Hodson Golf will also meet or beat any online or big box pricing from our local competitors including Golf Galaxy, Dicks, or The PGA superstore.

If you are looking for new clubs this year please keep these things in mind:

  1. The shaft is the engine of the club – don’t sacrifice performance and consistency over price (i.e. potential stock shaft offerings vs premium).
  2. Don’t get pushed into a certain brand or model just because the hourly fitter keeps pushing that brand or model – Most retail (especially big box) reward their fitters with “spiffs” in relation to how much product they can move off the shelves for certain brands.
  3. Make sure the wherever you go has a wide selection of all brands and an even larger selection of both the best stock shaft offerings and custom offerings.
  4. Be up-front with your fitter and let them know if you need to stay within a certain budget.

You can always avoid these recommendations by just coming to get fit with Hodson Golf. We fit outdoors year round (we have great portable heaters in the winter) and you can actually hit off grass (when weather and/or season permits). We also use a state-of-the-art Doppler Radar Launch Monitor (Cost more than the car I drive) and you can actually watch the outdoor ball flight. We do not use, and will never use, any type of simulator nor net. Please keep in mind that we change to our higher spring fitting rates 3/1/25.
